A: The painful truth is that Ukraine is a country obliterated. Communities demolished, millions of people displaced, living in ruin, facing starvation if they manage not to freeze to death – yes, it is “still bad over there.” Restore UA is working to help with immediate lifesaving aid, short-term needs, and long-term support for survival. All of our efforts come down to a few words – we want to help Restore Ukraine (UA). Food that requires no prep other than hot water (for those with no kitchens in conflict zones). For families that have been internally displaced or in formerly occupied regions. Restore UA has a team on the ground in Poland moving aid currently into Ukraine weekly. In country a broad network of churches, drivers, individuals, and non-profits have been working together since the war started distributing food to the areas facing the greatest need, which is in the former occupied areas and those currently being contested, as well as those regions housing large amounts of internally displaced. We are, in large quantities, and you can partner with us. But we recognize that many people locally want to help practically and don’t know how. Those who maybe don’t feel comfortable sending money but would fill comfortable filling up a grocery bag to donate. Who could involve their children, friends, or family. We prefer to load non-perishables into broccoli boxes or the like so that it is easy to stack safely, secure,& easy to unload and distribute without having to re-package or handle the food. 25 Tons of food, or 50,000lbs. Everything is needed, we focus on Personal Hygiene items (put in Ziplock bags) including shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and more. Ideas for polar items can be found below. formula, baby food, baby body wash, baby wipes, diapers, desitin, children’s Tylenol, children’s Motrin, children’s multivitamins, baby powder shampoo, shower gels for men and women, deodorant, bar antibacterial soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body lotion, face wash, hand cream, wet wipes, tampons and pads, adult diapers, detergent powder, dish washing liquid, razors, sunscreen, bug spray, chapstick multivitamins, ibuprofen, aspirin, tylenol, daytime and nighttime flu medication, bandaids, neosporin The containers are donated by Midstate Containers, so they are free. Stateside transport is donated by Midstate. Shipping to Poland and trucking into Ukraine is approx. $6,000 Per container, which we hope to raise. We anticipate 1-2 months to fill and coordinate space on a ship and another 2 months for sea and land transport into Ukraine. So from start to finish, four months. The war has severely disrupted the previously fragile supply chain still recovering from Covid. Fuel shortages, inflation, and people without work across Ukraine has created a food crisis that will only get worse later this year. A projected regional famine is anticipated. Food will be scarce and more expensive than it is now locally. So far we have one in AG and one going to Morro Bay. We are looking for partners to help add more containers to fill in our community. Midstate will donate as many as we can fill. Feed a country and millions of people in need. Gather together and fill containers with goods. Contact us and get your supplies straight to UA. FAQs
